A prerequisite when you’re looking for things to do in Florida must include water-related fun, and that fun starts with the Orlando Watersports Complex. The activities in which you can participate range from relaxing on the patio at the onsite restaurant, the Dockside Grill, to cable wakeboarding and so many other things in between.

Safety First

All visitors partaking in water activities need to watch a safety video before getting started as well as signing a waiver. Helmets are required for some of the activities and safety vests are to be worn by all. Lifeguards are standing by in case they are needed.

Activities Galore

One of the most popular activities at this cable park is wakeboarding across the lake on your own individual cable. This method is an alternative to being pulled by a boat or relying on a boat’s wake, though the boat tow is done from time to time.

In addition to wakeboarding, cable sessions can include kneeboarding and wakeskating. The skating aspect is similar to wakeboarding but without anything holding you to the board.

Boats are commonplace on the lake. In addition to participating in wakeboarding stunts or taking your boat out for a leisurely day in the sun, you may see water skiers and tubers being pulled behind a variety of watercraft.

Aqua Park

One must-do activity when in the St. Cloud area is the aqua park at OWC. A little sandy beach leads to the water park where you will see kids climbing, jumping, and swimming the day away. Kids must be at least 6 years old, know how to swim, and be at least 43 inches tall. The Aqua Park will give them a chance to play with others their age and build self-confidence as a benefit of their day at OWC.

Year-Round Events

For any competitors in the group, there are events spread out during the year that may put you a little out of your comfort zone but will show you what you are capable of. Cable Games, King of the Cable, and Wakeboard College Nationals are a few of the competitions you can watch or participate in.

OWC’s Spring Classic has cable wakeboarding with boats and cables with contestants from colleges around the country. An anniversary celebration of OWC will be held in August with special prices on many of the water activities and lessons. Homeschool Days offer classes for homeschoolers, and summer camp is open to kids from 7 to 15.

Membership Options

Your skill level and the amount of time you will be spending at OWC will determine which membership will be best for you. There are options of a one-month membership with no gear to a yearly membership with gear as well as special rates for families.

Discounts on equipment are available with some membership packages. Other discounts with membership include a reduced rate for summer camp, a discount at the Pro Shop, and a discount on food and drink at Dockside Grill.

Every day of the week has a different special offered. A favorite perk of the membership is no limit to the full-size cable riding you can do. No contracts are necessary, so you can start small until you see how much fun you have.

The warm weather in Central Florida will have you looking for water fun every chance you get. Your whole family can enjoy time together at OWC while making memories to last for years to come.
